The most fundamental and final analysis on the theory of evolution may be rendered thus: Human beings are the children of monkeys destined to perpetual struggle, conflict, and war leading to complete and total annihilation of the species. Now, because the preparation of the heart belongs to man, and the answer of the tongue is from the Lord; God says, I create the fruit of the lips; and, the mouth confesses the abundance of the heart, God himself renders to me his view of the people who subscribe to Charles Darwin's religious deist philosophy, viz., they are nothing more than caged monkeys who like to sling feces as monkeys are wont to do when annoyed.
Habits and skills are Plans that were originally voluntary but that have become relatively inflexible, involuntary, automatic. Once the Plan that controls a sequence of skilled actions becomes fixed through overlearning, it will function in much the same way as an innate Plan in instinctive behavior. The description of the conditions under which various skilled components will be triggered, or released, is much the same in both cases. The new problem that we must consider when we move from instincts to habits and skills concerns how learned Plans become automatized. People are reasonably precise in their use of "intent" in ordinary conversation. And they do not use it to mean something is temporarily valuable or that they have a particular needs, either real or quasi.
