People ask is space travel to Mars too dangerous?
My belief is no, all throughout human history we have taken risks to advance our species, if we had not then the world would be very different to the one we live in today.
Many people believe that the risk is to great, well I ask only this, what if the wright brothers had never tried to fly the first aircraft simply because they might have gotten hurt trying. While I appreciate peoples concern for the safety of the individuals who take these risks these people are takiing them willing in pursuit of a object they believe is worth the risk, if we never try we never gain.
Our planet today is overpopulated, over poluted and the situation is only getting worse with populations increasing in every country with the exception of China who have currently taken action due to overcrowding. With an increasing population earths natural resources are under increasing strain, we are running out of time and space travel may be a suitable alternative, it may also prove useless but if we don't try we'll never know. If we could successfully reach Mars then we would stand a real chance of learning weather we as a species could ever exist on another planet, you might say this sounds crazy but the same thing was said about the Eden project in Cornwall Great Britain. The Eden project has successfully grown plants from temperate regions and rainforests around the world and still sustains them under a giant dome today. If a rainforest can be grown in England surely we can figure out a way to do a project similar on a another planet (for more information on the Eden project please see
The international space station has sustained astronauts in space for almost up to a year which shows that under the right conditions we can survive in space.
I believe with the right technology and ambitous people we stand a good chance of making space travel more than just science fiction.
