Geniuses have a genius for unzipping the rituals that society associates with change - eating (they spill tomato sauce on the floor as they absent-mindedly traverse the kitchen), relationships (they typically remain obsessed with their life-long work at the expense of everything else). This is a welcome change for those who were sick of the system and were looking for an excuse to explore its inadequacies anyway.

Sensory perception has traditionally been an area for moralising. The cerebellum (little brain) co-ordinates sensory input with muscle output. However, it can tend to suffer from decreased blood flow depending on how the brain is being used - specifically, it falls during hypnosis. Hypnosis is based on the idea that 'truth' is to be found beyond personal sensory perception. The light we can see is merely concealing the real world, according to this methodology. To the extent that looking beyond the obvious is considered to be genius, the sensory processes in the brain can tend to be abused by lack of attention to them.

In the English dictionary, 'sense' is the direction of a vector. During extreme cultural environments, such as wartime, people experience such phenomena as being unable to ascertain the direction that sounds are coming from. The data is not being processed properly in the brain. The images we see with our eyes are not literally a product of the light data hitting our retinas, otherwise we would have two black dots in the middle of our vision where the optical nerves come off our retinas.

In the Bible, the prodigal son comes to his senses after he is reduced to envying the food of the pigs. He decides to return to his father and beg forgiveness.

There is such a thing as a Bayesian inference, which is using evidence or observations to update or to newly infer the probability that a hypothesis may be true. This means that subjective experiences are integral to the deliberations over probabilities. In practice, I think this looks a bit spooky but, if you've got the reputation for being a bit clever, maybe you can get away with it.

Regarding reputations, the mark of the beast in Revelation appears to be reliance on social reputation inasmuch as the 'xi' character represents 'agathoergeo'. 'Ergeo' means business or working-oriented, as in ergonomics. The last character of the 666 means stigma. The first character, 'chi', represents 'agamos' which means not married. In other words, to have a reputation for being able to find a marriage partner but not doing much work is considered to be something that one would need in order to buy or sell.

In practice, intelligence in this world seems to be "who you know, not what you know". This means getting a good grasp on hierarchical principles. "Comprehend" means "with grasping". However, "skill" means being able to differentiate, distinguish, discern etc. A skilled craftsperson will stand before the king, according to Proverbs 22:29. Hopefully in a sane mind as well!
