Many teenagers love astronomy.  They may enjoy looking at the stars and learning about them.  There are many great 2010 Christmas gifts that you can get for someone with such an interest.  Consider the following ideas.

Books and magazines

A lot of teens might enjoy reading about astronomy.  Depending on the exact age of the teen, you can get them something that is geared towards adults.  You may want to try A Beginner's Guide to the Universe (5th Edition) by Chaisson and Steve McMillan or Cosmos: Astronomy in the New Millennium by M. Pasachoff and Alex Filippenkov.    You can get them a magazine subscription to a science magazine such as Popular Science.

Your teen might also like some books that are fiction but are somehow related to astronomy.  For instance, the Star Trek and Star Wars books obviously are related to astronomy, and many teens who like the subject will like them as well.

Apparel

There are many articles of clothing that are related to astronomy. For instance, they make vibrant t-shirts that have the pictures of the earth, moons, stars and planets on it.

Jewelry

A girl might enjoy a piece of jewelry that is somehow related to astronomy.  For instance, they sell pendants that are shapes like stars.  They have many other pieces with such a theme such as bracelets, rings and more.

Telescope

A teen who loves astronomy might like a telescope for the 2010 Christmas holiday.  You can get them the 21061 AstroMaster 70 AZ Refractor Telescope by Celestron or 31045 AstroMaster 130 EQ Reflector Telescope also by Celestron.  Many telescopes are inexpensive, and you may be able to find one for under $100.  As you go up in price, you can get something much more complex.  There are also a number of accessories that go with these devices.  This can allow your child to look at the stars and learn about astronomy on his or her own.

DVD

There are many educational DVDS about astronomy.  He or she might like one of these or a fiction DVD that takes place amongst the stars.

There are many great presents for a teen who likes astronomy.  You can make an astronomy gift basket and combine a bunch of the above items such as a DVD, book, shirt, etc. Otherwise consider the above gifts for your teen for Christmas 2010.
