The human body is the most complex yet simple combination of natural elements. First off the elements in the body are: Oxygen (65%) Carbon (18%) Hydrogen (10%) Nitrogen (3%) Calcium (1.5%) Phosphorus (1.0%) Potassium (0.35%) Sulfur (0.25%) Sodium (0.15%) Magnesium (0.05%)
Copper, Zinc, Selenium, Molybdenum, Fluorine, Chlorine, Iodine, Manganese, Cobalt, Iron (0.70%) and trace amounts of Lithium, Strontium, Aluminum, Silicon, Lead, Vanadium, Arsenic, Bromine.
Most of the human body is made up of water. The cells consisting of 65-90% water. Do you think that it is not obvious that most of a human body's mass is oxygen. The basic unit for organic life is Carbon so that is an easy guess of what comes in second place. Did you know that 99% of the human body is made up of just the six basic elements oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus
One of the facts that I find interesting is that as toxic and deadly as some of these elements are you can still find them in the body. Arsenic for example has been used in many movies including "Chicago" as a tool to kill someone. Lead is one of the biggest issues in paint and toys of the era. In china they are using lead paint on children's' toys. Lead can cause many damaging things to occur in the body especially at a young-developing age.
The body is mostly water and H20 is the most important thing to a humans well being however just these small trace amounts of elements and the elements that make up .7% of the body still play a very vital role however small the amount may be. For example the body without calcium would not exist. Iron is so vital to the body's circulatory system that without enough you are not allowed to give blood to make sure that nothing bad happens to your body or your heath. Most of the times in life when someone feels sick or has a headache what the body is actually saying is that it needs water.
The body also needs many vitamins and minerals to live but these elements are the only things the body is made of. The body also produces naturally many of the things that it needs to survive but what it doesn't produce itself it uses the foods you eat to obtain. When you eat a hamburger your not only eating the meat your also building your body because you just absorbed elements into your body that will be used to help you live.
The body does not use many elements to live but they are all improtant.
